Basketball Coach for Girls and/or Boys

Duties & Responsibilities: Provide basic skill
instruction to boys & girls in 3rd-4th Grades through a 3 week
schedule of practices. Provide a fun and positive experience for
all players, provide a safe playing environment, interact with
parents and spectators, follow all rules and guidelines of the

Description of Program: This is an after-school program
which meets at local grade schools from 3:30 - 5:00.

Ice Arena Attendant

Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise children and adults
at Public Open Skating. Rent skates to customers, collect entry
fees, keep area clean and safe, rotate shifts between front desk
duties and on-the-ice (ice-cop) duties.
Description of Program: Open skating for the general
public held each weekday from 3:30 - 5:00 and Sunday evenings
from 6:30 - 8:30. Staff members work a minimum of one and
maximum of four shifts per week.
Program Dates: Training for staff will be held between
November 6 - 10. Open Skate begins November 13 and continues
through mid-March.
Minimum Qualifications: Basic ice skating skills, good
math skills, good public relations skills.

Winter Lifeguard or Swim Instructor

Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise children and adults
at Public Open Swim, and/or teach Red Cross lessons.
Description of Program: Open swim at the Rec Center is
held Friday evenings 6:00 - 8:00, Saturday and Sunday afternoons
2:00 - 4:00. Guarded lap swim is held early mornings. Swim
Lessons are weekdays, 3:45 - 5:00.
Program Dates: September through April.
Minimum Qualifications: Lifeguard Training required for
guards, WSI required for instructors.

Rec Center Front Desk Attendant

Duties & Responsibilities: Provide prompt, efficient, and
friendly service to Rec Center customers including duties such
as collecting entry fees, renting lockers, answering the phone,
registering participants for programs, supervising children in
the front lobby area, and assisting with maintenance duties.
Description of Program: Weeknight hours 4:30 - 10:00pm,
weekend hours 9:00am - 9:00pm Saturdays and 1:00- 6:00 Sundays.
Three to
Four positions available, each staff member works several shifts
each week.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience in sports and/or
fitness helpful, good communication skills, basic math skills,
basic computer skills.

Soccer Referee

Duties & Responsibilities: Officiate recreational soccer
games for U6, U8, U10, and U12 boys and girls under the
direction of the Soccer Coordinator.
Description of Program: Spring League is held on Tuesday
and Thursday evenings from mid-April to early June. Fall League
is held on Mondays and Thursday evenings September & October.
Hours are approximately 5:15 - 8:45pm.
Minimum Qualifications: Certification preferred but not
required. Experience playing soccer required.

Volleyball Coach

Duties & Responsibilities: Guide 5th and 6th grade girls
and 3rd & 4th grade girls through a six-week volleyball season.
Provide a fun and positive experience for all players, provide a
safe playing environment, interact with parents and spectators,
follow all rules and guidelines of the program.
Description of Program: This is an after-school program
held at LB Williams school. Coaches divide the participants into
teams after completing two weeks of practice and play games for
the final four weeks. Season begins in January 7th and ends Feb
15.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience playing volleyball on
a competitive level (high school, college, or adult).

Aquatic Center Managers

Duties & Responsibilities: Manage day to day operations
of the Aquatic Center, under the supervision of the Director of
Recreation. Train and supervise aquatic center staff including
lifeguards, swim instructors, and front desk attendants. Work
with concession manager and head of maintenance to insure a
clean and healthy environment with efficient and friendly
services.
Description of Program: The Aquatic Center is open every
day of the week, 1:00 - 8:30pm. A team of managers share
(flexible) hours so that at least one manager is on duty at all
times -- full-time (40+ hours per week) and part-time (15 - 30
hours per week) are available. Staff training begins in May -
facility opens Memorial Day, closes August 25th.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualified applicants will be
mature individuals with some background in aquatics.
Certification in Lifeguard Training and/or WSI will be required,
but can be provided by the Department of Parks & Recreation.

Aquatic Center Concession Manager & Assistant Manager

Duties & Responsibilities: Manage the day to day
operations of a busy concession operation, including limited hot
items (pizza, pretzels, hot dogs), frozen items, slushes, candy,
etc. Coordinate ordering and maintaining adequate inventory.
Responsible for training and supervising counter workers and
maintaining a clean and attractive environment which meets State
health code guidelines.
Description of Program: The Aquatic Center concession
operation is open every day of the week, 1:00 - 7:30pm. The
manager and assistant managers will share hours so that at least
one is on duty at all times. Must be available some mornings for
inventory deliveries. Full time (40 hours per week) and
part-time (15 - 30 hours per week) are available.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience working in food
service, concessions, or education required. Ability to pass
S.D. Retailers Food Service Training Class a requirement.

Description of Program: Part-time positions available.
The facility is open seven days per week from 1:00 - 7:30pm,

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least age 15.
Concession workers will be hired after lifeguarding positions
are filled, as some concession hours may be assigned to
first-year guards.

Dakota Kids & Novelty Program Instructors

Duties & Responsibilities: Plan and implement a novelty
program based on nature, arts & crafts, active games, songs, and
stories. Age groups are Fabulous Fours (4 year-olds only),
Dakota Kids (ages 5 through 8), Dakota Wild (ages 9 - 11). Also
plan several "Fun Friday Field Trips" for ages 9 through 12.
Use effective teaching methods to maintain order yet emphasize
the creative and recreational value of children at play.
Description of Program: Monday through Thursdays, 9:00am
- 3:00pm and some Fridays for day-long field trips. Begins in
early June, ends early August.
Minimum Qualifications: College student majoring in
education or related field. Also a great summer job for
teachers!
